You are not a Diagnosis
You are More than
ADHD
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Major Depressive Disorder

and so on.

In relational therapy we will recognize the you outside of a diagnosis.

The medical model of therapy
brings us a way to organize symptoms into diagnoses.
It has benefits
and yet
It DOES NOTHING
to teach us what to do next.

Feeling alone in your marriage
Not being able to get support you want
Arguing with your children
Feeling confused when dating
Being unable to ask for change
Spending money to feel better
Regulating jealousy and anger

These are
Relational Skills

Skills that your
Mom & Dad may have tried to teach you if you were lucky
or skills that your family system
blocked your learning

Even if you never got the support, or if you did and you still struggle,
It's okay because

THESE SKILLS ARE SO VITAL

Relational Skills
effect

The amount of love you feel
The quality of the friendships you have
Your ability to stand up for yourself
Feelings of connection to community and others
Your physical health

Skills that we may pick up by Painful Trial and Error
you know what Im talking about.

the really bad relationship
three or four really bad relationships
the toxic boss
the divorce
the cut-off from family
getting fired
begging for payday to come

I say SCREW PAINFUL learning

and REPLACE IT with
willful
intentional
practice
and
action

This requires
COMMITMENT to values
VULNERABILTY in the process
ACCOUNTABILITY to someone
and
EMPATHY for our loved ones and yourself.

This path is not for everyone.
Nina is not the therapist for everyone.

Expect to be challenged.
Expect to devote resources (time and money)
Expect change.

Real. Lasting. Change.
